Overview
Washington signals that it is prepared to engage in diplomatic negotiations with Iran in order to achieve America’s goals in the war. Iran appeared to reject America’s overtures describing Washington, as “negotiating with itself.” Washington responded that if no deal is reached by April 6, that the “US will be Iran’s worst nightmare.”
Israel and the United States are intensifying strikes on Iran’s military infrastructure. Israel says it has struck around 1,000 targets tied to Iran’s defense industries and missile production, including major sites in Parchin, Isfahan, Yazd, and Bandar Abbas. The United States says it has destroyed most of Iran’s missile and drone production capacity and is continuing bunker strikes in the south.
Israel attacked Iran’s steel manufacturing plants that are an integral part of Iran’s military-industrial supply chain. Their attack is also seen as a significant blow to the Iranian economy as it produces materials essential for construction and road repair – critical components of a post war recovery. . Despite heavy damage to its missile system, Iran continues launching long-range ballistic missiles, especially from Yazd. It is also fortifying Kharg Island and nearby islands amid fears of a possible American move to take the island.
