In early May 2025, British police arrested eight Iranian nationals as part of two separate counterterrorism operations, with the declared target of the cell being the Israeli Embassy in London. This incident underscores the threat posed by Iran and its proxies not only to Israeli and Jewish targets but also to Britain’s national security.
The Iranian threat to Britain has long since transcended the boundaries of the global conflict between the West and the regime of the ayatollahs. Alongside overt tensions in the Persian Gulf, nuclear ambitions, and the sanctions front, Iran is also developing a covert front on European soil - especially so in the United Kingdom. In recent years, the UK has found itself under a quiet, complex, and multi-layered assault by terrorism, espionage, and influence networks linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS), as well as local crime syndicates used as operational proxies.
In recent years, a wide array of hostile elements and violent extremists have been directing their activities against the UK.
