Abstract

The Israeli raid in Doha, while failing to eliminate the Hamas leadership, sent a clear message: no one in the Middle East is immune to Israeli retaliation, not even US allies.


Hamas's political office consequently found itself under pressure, as did Qatar, and thus it was possible to proceed with the implementation of Trump's peace plan, despite all the current difficulties.


Moreover, it reaffirmed Qatar's status as a problematic, two-faced actor, one that, on the one hand, seeks to mediate, while on the other, supports Hamas and spreads Islamism in the West. This is a problem that must be addressed if a truly lasting peace is to be achieved.


The factors that led to Trump’s peace plan

The operation conducted by the IDF in Doha on Tuesday, September 9, against the Hamas leadership is an unprecedented action that, regardless of its unsuccess, sent a very clear message: no Hamas leader is safe, not even in countries considered as "friendly" by the West.


There is every reason to believe that despite no Hamas leader was killed in the strike, it has achieved its objectives. It is no coincidence that shortly afterwards, the historic deal led by President Trump on ceasefire…
