The operation conducted by the IDF in Doha on Tuesday, September 9, against the Hamas leadership is an unprecedented action that, regardless of its success, which is still awaiting confirmation, sent a very clear message: no Hamas leader is safe, not even in countries considered as "friendly" by the West.

As declared by the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon: “I intend to make it absolutely clear to the Council: there will be no immunity for terrorists - not in Gaza, not in Lebanon, and not in Qatar. We will not back down and we will continue to act decisively against the leaders of terror wherever they are hiding.”


The Doha raid marks a significant precedent since, in July 2024, Israel had targeted Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh while visiting Tehran, making the other Doha-based Hamas leaders believe they were safe on Qatari soil. Those same leaders who, immediately after the October 7th massacre, were filmed performing a prayer of thanks.
