In recent years, the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East has experienced seismic shifts. The once-formidable “Axis of Resistance” - anchored by Iran, Hezbollah, and their regional allies - now finds itself facing its most consequential reckoning yet. What follows aims to unravel beneath the surface of strategic headlines, exposing the pulse of a doctrine that has guided these actors for decades: Taqiyya. This Shiite principle, historically a survival tool and later a tactical weapon, is being put under unprecedented strain.
As Tehran faces setbacks in the Levant, it is expanding its reach beyond the region. A worst-case scenario could see Iran deploying a radiological “dirty bomb” from missile bases in Venezuela or Iraq, relying on loyal proxies like Hezbollah, Iraqi Shiite militias, or the Houthis to obscure attribution. These actors are trained and funded - form a global infrastructure capable of executing high-risk missions with plausible deniability. In this context, Taqiyya is no longer just theological: it is a transnational strategy of deception and global scrutiny.
